Oh anguish!

The past few weeks have had this ongoing plot of moving, and the exact date I'm moving and such. Between the fact that I had to stop working a full time job and the fact that I've had medical bills, affording our current rental home is becoming impossible, and we want to relocate to the Lehigh Valley.
But a discussion today with my landlord shows that he is NOT going to make this an easy move at all. He implied that I wasn't getting out early, and the whole thing left me with a bad taste in my mouth that I won't discuss here.
I am moving, but then I find this and almost wish I wasn't

Darlings--a job where I can learn more of the leatherworking trade, AND gain experience with making corsets. A dream job. A mentorship. And were I intending to live here, something I would be persuing like a rabid badger.
If (big if) I can't move, I think I might be responding to this. Lord knows I'm a quick learner with some experience. I just won't need the room. I already have a lease I don't want.

Well, this is unusual

I sold EVERYTHING in my shop.
EVERYthing
everyTHING
I have an empty shop, and, with no digital camera, no way to fill it up.
So, it means that I'm taking a shop break, and focusing on making things and working on doing some packing for my impending move.
When I come back, I want a nice full shop with lots of fabulousness.

I added on a side "telescope" to this pair, with domed clear lenses. Side strips with millimeter rivets hold it in place. Amber lenses on the goggles. Tan and burgandy/brown leather, handsewn with an awl as always.

I can't wait to have a camera and unlimited access to taking pictures. Until then, it shall happen in fits and starts.
This is a good basic pair of goggles, olive and burgandy leather, all brass findings.

My shopping expedition for supplies today happened to turn up a roll of 5" wide black stretch lace. Not the best quality, but it ended up being a over 50 yards for a scant $3. The upshot is, don't be surprised if you happen to see me wearing garments that seem to feature an unneccessary amount of wide black stretch lace.

Two new pieces

The first piece I've been kicking around for a while, all but finished. Finally I've gotten it done and can show it off.

It dawned on me to take pictures of the straps!

I'm starting experimenting with a lot more extra bits and pieces, cybernetics or what not. I have a few more up my sleeve, but this will be my first experiment, a side viewer with a bright red lens. The main lens is a dark green, and I added domed spots to the strap. Definitely a different feel than my last monoggle.

These are particularly awesome.
A smooth, warm brown (almost burgandy) leather is contrasted with textured dark expresso colored leather. Brass rivets galore fix everything in place and are accented with large brass spots. The extra wide strap has a branded line detail, and attachs with a rectangular fixture. The back closes with a brass buckle and reinforced brass eyelets. Around the edge of the eyepiece is a brass wire accent. The lenses are a dark smokey gray color. The edges of the eyecups are soft to fit to a variety of face shapes and the nosepiece is bendable to a better fit.

Eyelet goggles.

I was playing with eyelets on this pair; there's three on each eye which go through all the layers of the leather, and are highlighted by two lines of the millimeter sized eyelets and rivets that I've made my signature. The strap is, as always, a matching wide leather and closes with reinforced brass eyelets. Around the eyepiece are four screws, which create an interesting industrial, almost nautical appearance, it's an idea I plan on using again in the near future. The lenses are clear here, and the nosepiece is extra wide, to accomodate a larger head.

Monoggle

Finally starting to get some of my work online. For starters, this monoggle, which holds the distinction of "disturbing" my mom. Two tone leather, all brass fixtures, dark amber/orange lens, large brass spots and tiny millimeter brass eyelets. The edges are soft to conform to your face, and the side fixtures swivel to fit a variety of head shapes.
